SN taught patient/pcg that Parkinson's disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disorder, after Alzheimer's disease. While classically considered a movement disorder, there is a growing recognition that Parkinson's disease produces a wide variety of non-motor symptoms as well. Instructed in measures to control or to live with Parkinson's disease such as exercising daily with regular rest periods, learning walking techniques, following safety precautions, obtaining adequate nutrition, obtaining emotional support, taking medication as ordered, getting help as needed, wearing an identification bracelet, etc.
